The Morris City Council this week approved a Conditional Use Permit for Jerry’s U-Save, which wants to build a propane and petroleum product storage and distribution center in the City’s Industrial Park by Westmor. The permit would allow the company to store the products at a larger level than what they currently have now. But City Manager Blaine Hill told the KMRS Community Connection that the City’s Planning Commission put a stipulation for Dark Sky Compliant lighting at the facility.
“The light is pointed down where it’s needed, but it doesn’t go out to the sides, it doesn’t go up in the air,” said Hill. “So, there’s no wasted light with the lighting.”
With the City’s move towards Dark Sky Compliant Lighting, it was noted at the City Council meeting that more stars can be seen in the Morris night sky.
