Luverne 12, Morris 1 (5 Inn)
ST. CHARLES – Luverne scored eight in the bottom of the fourth on their way to a 12-1 defeat of Morris at the Junior Legion state baseball tournament from St. Charles on Saturday, endings the 5039s season.

Sam Kleinwolterink’s solo blast in the third was the lone highlight for Morris, at the time tying the score at one apiece.

But Luverne responded with a three-run third before the knockout blow in the fourth.

Brady Backman took the loss, giving up 11 runs (9 earned) on 10 hits, Tristan Raths allowed an unearned run while recording the final three outs.

Luverne’s Cade Wenniger went all five innings, giving up a run on two hits with seven strikeouts.

Casey Sehr, Jacob Vontersch, and Ethan Beyer each had two RBIs for Luverne.

Morris finishes the year with a record of 19-11 and the North Central Sub-State champions.
