Morris native Doctor Daniel Lembcke was honored on his retirement at last week’s Lake Region Medical Group Family Picnic in Fergus Falls. The family physician has been with the Fergus operation since he got out of medical residency at North Memorial 33 years ago, working the last 17 years in the Battle Lake satellite clinic. Lembcke told KMRS that he got his undergraduate degree from the University of Minnesota Morris before heading to medical school in Duluth, and offered some thoughts on what has been most rewarding for him.

Lembcke said the most fun for him was doing deliveries back when he was doing obstetrical care. “But the most rewarding thing was getting to know patients and to be trusted to take care of them,” he said. “It was an honor for me to do that. Honestly, that’s what it was all about for me.”

The 62 year old Lembcke said a bad back makes it hard for him to make it through a day, leading to his early retirement. He said he still has two sisters and a brother in Morris.
