The Swift County Fair cranks it into gear for the weekend with a host of activities today in Appleton. 4-H will have its Swine, Rabbit and Beef shows today, the Wendinger Polka Band performs at noon, Knockerball will run from 12 to 7 p.m., Trash or Treasure Appraisals begin at 1:30 p.m., the Reptile Discovery Zoo will be open from 2 to 8 p.m., a homemade pie and ice cream social will be held at 2 p.m., and Doug Ohman will present some Swift County History at 3, 5 and 7 p.m. in the Commercial Building. Swift County Fair Board President Jon Panzer told KMRS about some weekend Grandstand activities: Demolition Derbies on both Friday and Saturday nights. And with $12,000 in prize money at stake, Panzer said that should add to the excitement.

Following tonight’s 7 p.m. Demo Derby, Great White will rock out at 9 p.m., followed by a fireworks show and the Nasty Habit Band. Gate admission is $3 per person, free for those 12 and under, and $3 per car to park.
