The Grief Share grief support group begins its 14 weekly sessions 4 to 6 p.m. today at Morris Evangelical Free Church, 901 Scotts Avenue in Morris. The program uses videotaped segments and a workbook to spark small group discussion about the weekly topic. Facilitator Neil Leroux told the KMRS Community Connection that those grieving may experience a wide range of emotions – all of them perfectly normal.
“Some folks may not be feeling tremendous emotional sadness or anger and they may be wondering, ‘Is something wrong with me, that I’m not feeling the kinds of things that others are telling me I should.’ And they’ll find affirmation from the material and the videos and from other people that they’ve gone through this kind of thing, too,” said Leroux.
The program is non-denominational, and may be attended at any point as each session is self-contained, though the earlier the better for purposes of group bonding. Information on the program may be found at griefshare.org or by calling the church at 589-2808.
