After 15 years of holding dance classes in the City Center Mall, the Footnotes Studio of Dance cut the ribbon at ceremonies this weekend for its new location on 506 California Avenue in Morris. Owner Stephanie Ferrian told the assembled that the new space will allow for more options for the dance families.

“Now we are proud to walk through the doors. We are excited to get here,” said Ferrian. “Maybe your brothers and sisters are excited to come with you because there’s a space for them in your studio. Maybe your parents are happy because they have a moment to decompress while you’re doing the thing that you love. So, I hope that this is a space for families, and I hope that we can continue to have that feel as we move forward into the next 16 years.”

The studio held the bulk of their classes last year in the new building, while it was still in its renovation process.

Ferrian also said the memory of Taryn Paul, who was among the studio’s first dance students and later taught some of the younger classes, was a big reason she moved to the new space. She said she could imagine how happy Taryn would be to see it. Paul died two years ago at age 15.
