To demonstrate how seat belts can save lives, Fargo-Moorhead Ambulance Services will simulate the effects of a crash with a rollover simulator 9 a.m. Monday at its Moorhead station, 1519 Main Avenue. The simulator works by rotating the trailer-mounted half-truck up to 30 mph with unbelted crash test dummies positioned in the vehicle. Spectators can see how the effects of a crash tosses a person about the vehicle, eventually ejecting the crash dummy.
On hand will be Sergeant Jesse Grabow of the Minnesota State Patrol, Clay County Sheriff Mark Empting, Kristi Engelstad of FM Ambulance, and West Central Minnesota Toward Zero Deaths Regional Director Katy Kressin. The effort is part of the Click It or Ticket extra seat belt enforcement campaign that will run from September 16 – 28 and involves over 300 law enforcement agencies across west central Minnesota and the rest of the state.
