WOMEN’S GOLF
LITCHFIELD – The University of Minnesota Morris women’s golf team finished first at the MLC/UMN Morris Dual Sunday afternoon, which took place at the Litchfield Golf Course.

The Cougars shot a 424 (+144) as a team. Payton Sierra finished first with a 91 (+21), five strokes ahead of Alison Lindemann (96/+26) from Martin Luther.

Shelby Maloney placed third with a 104 (+34), Tori Grates took fourth with a 111 (+41), and Kim Novotny shot a 118 (+48) to place fifth.

Sierra, a sophomore, won her third individual title at UMN Morris Sunday. She also won the 2018 MLC/UMN Morris Dual. Maloney and Novotny, both freshmen, carded career-best scores Sunday.

The Cougars fired a 424 (+44), the Knights scored a 482 (+202).


MEN’S GOLF
LITCHFIELD – The University of Minnesota Morris men’s golf team placed second at the MLC/UMN Morris Dual Sunday afternoon, which took place at the Litchfield Golf Course.

The Cougars shot a 408 (+128) as a team to the Knights 408.

Joe Wehr took sixth with a 95 (+25), Logan Graves placed seventh with a 102 (+32), Mac Johnson shot a 104 (+34) to place eighth, and Roen Aronson finished ninth with a 107 (+37).


WOMEN’S SOCCER
MORRIS – Junior Sam Tate scored a pair of second-half goals en route to a 2-0 victory for the Minnesota Morris women’s soccer team (1-2-0) over Buena Vista (1-5-0) Sunday afternoon at Cougar Field.

The two teams went into halftime tied at 0-0 with the Cougars outshooting the Beavers, 16-3 before Tate broke the scoreless tie at 60:10 with her first goal of the season.

Then 7:36 later, Tate netted her second goal of the day to put the Cougars in front, 2-0. Bernadette Cienik recorded three saves for the shutout victory. The Cougars outshot Buena Vista, 38-5.


MEN’S SOCCER
MORRIS – Senior Gabe Arreguin converted a penalty kick attempt in the 87th minute as the Minnesota Morris men’s soccer team (1-6-0) defeated Buena Vista (0-3-3), 1-0, Sunday afternoon at Cougar Field.

The two teams went into halftime scoreless with Buena Vista outshooting UMN Morris, 4-3.
In the closing minutes of regulation, Buena Vista was called for a foul inside its penalty area, which set the Cougars up for a penalty kick.

On the penalty kick attempt, Arreguin was able to covert and break the 0-0 tie with 3:40 left on the clock in regulation. Trey Heinsius made eight saves in his men’s soccer debut for the Cougars. The Cougars were outshot, 20-9.
