Joan Gabel was installed on Friday as President of the University of Minnesota and, as the first woman to hold the post in the university’s 168-year history, some women on the U’s Morris campus find inspiration in her story. Director of Alumni Engagement Jennifer Zych Herrmann told the KMRS Community Connection that she took note of Gabel’s appointment.
“I was thrilled when I saw that she was a candidate,” said Zych Herrmann. “We got to meet her during the whole interview process. I would say that’s really inspiring and really well-timed.”
Gabel will visit with students, faculty, alumni and media today and tomorrow while visiting the Morris campus.
