VOLLEYBALL
STORM LAKE – The Cougar volleyball team earned a 4-set victory over Buena Vista 26-24, 28-26, 24-26, 25-17 on Tuesday from Storm Lake.

Tori Everson and Brenna Tinjum’s back-to-back kills gave UMM the first set victory. Vista scored six straight to tie the second set at 24, eventually losing on back-to-back attack errors.

The Cougars then rallied for six straight to tie things in the third set, but the Beavers held them off before UMM jumped out to a big lead early in the fourth set and never looked back.

Layne Herrmann tallied a season-best 55 assists while Tinjum recorded 22 kills. Everson and Alyssa Ukestad each had 27 digs, Kennedy Geller added three blocks.


GOLF
MINNEAPOLIS – The Cougar golf teams were competing at the Northwestern Invite from the Gross National Golf Club in Minneapolis on Tuesday.

The Cougar men tied for sixth with a team score of 383, 99 shots over par. Nick Peterson tied for 20th with a 16-over 87, Kyle Hastings took 26th place.

For the women, only three Cougars competed, so they did not tally a team score. Kaya Quinn posted a ninth-place finish with her score of 93. Trinity Erickson and Shelby Maloney each recorded a score of 96 to tie for 11th.
