WOMEN’S CROSS COUNTRY
EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – The Minnesota Morris women’s cross country team finished third among UMAC teams Friday at the Blugold Invite. Overall, the Cougars tallied 551 points to place 19th.

HOW IT HAPPENED

McKenna Langerud led the Cougars with a 66th-place finish (24:02.5).
Kaitlyn Ladwig completed the 6k course in 24:38.9 to place 106th.
Paige Stearns clocked in at 24:53.2 to place 124th.
Taylor Prieve took 252nd with her time of 27:36.6.
Amelia Lund rounded out the scoring for the Cougars as she finished 287th with a time of 28:33.7.


MEN’S CROSS COUNTRY
EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – The Minnesota Morris men’s cross country team finished ahead of four UMAC teams Friday at the Blugold Invite. Overall, the Cougars tallied 669 points to place 22nd.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Ryan Anderson led the Cougars with a time of 26:58.4 to place 123rd.
Benjamin Barnack placed 177th with a time of 27:28.2.
Joel Knopp tallied a time of 27:40.0 to place 202nd.
Rory Shackelford was the fourth Cougar to cross the finish line as he ran a time of 28:36.9 (293rd).
Raymond Abraham rounded out the scoring for the Cougars with a time of 28:51.8 (314th).


WOMEN’S SOCCER
MORRIS, Minn. – The Minnesota Morris women’s soccer team (2-5-0, 0-2-0 UMAC) dropped a 2-1 decision to Bethany Lutheran (6-5-0, 2-0-0 UMAC) Saturday at Big Cat Stadium. The game was played at Big Cat Stadium due to pending darkness.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Junior Sam Tate converted a penalty kick in the 29th minute to put the Cougars up 1-0.
Maddie Perry tied the game at 1-1 in the 63rd minute.
Perry then put the Vikings in front of the Cougars, 2-1, in the 67th minute.
Freshman Bernadette Cienik finished the game with three saves.
Freshman Monica Calderon paced the Cougars with four shot attempts.
Minnesota Morris outshot Bethany Lutheran, 14-11, including a margin of 10-3 in the first half.

NOTABLES

Tate converted her first career penalty kick attempt.
Tate has accounted for every Cougar goal this season via goal or assist.


MEN’S SOCCER
MORRIS, Minn. – The Minnesota Morris men’s soccer team (2-9-0, 1-1-0 UMAC) picked up a 1-0 victory over Bethany Lutheran (8-3-0, 1-1-0 UMAC) Saturday afternoon at Cougar Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED

After the two teams went into halftime tied at 0-0, Corbin McCall scored 38 seconds into the second half to give the Cougars a 1-0 lead.
Bethany Lutheran outshot Minnesota Morris, 24-9, including a 14-3 margin in the first half.
Jake Peterson finished with eight saves for the Cougars, including a save in the closing seconds of regulation.
McCall and Carter Watkinson led Minnesota Morris with three shot attempts apiece.

NOTABLES
The Cougar defense recorded its second shutout of the season.
McCall’s goal Saturday is his first of 2019, and the third of his career.


WOMEN’S GOLF
BECKER, Minn. – The Minnesota Morris women’s golf team finished third at the 2019 UMAC Championships, which took place at the Pebble Creek Golf Club.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Cougars shot a 392 (+104) Saturday to finish with an overall score of 1203 (+339).
Payton Sierra led the Cougars with a 10th-place finish as she posted a score of 95 (+23) Saturday to finish with an overall score of 288 (+72).
Freshman Shelby Maloney moved up five spots from Friday to finish 13th overall (294/+78); Maloney tied a career-low 91 (+19) Saturday.
Sophomore Trinity Erickson moved up two spots from Friday to place 22nd overall (313/+97); Erickson posted a score of 100 (+28) Saturday.
Sophomore Kaya Quinn tied for 23rd (314/+98) as she carded a score of 106 (+34) Saturday.
Freshman Tori Grates placed 25th (325/+109) as she recorded a score of 107 (+35) Saturday.

NOTABLES
Three sophomores and two freshmen comprised the 2019 UMAC Championships roster for Minnesota Morris.
Sierra improved from a 12th-place finish (290/+74) at the 2018 UMAC Championships.


MEN’S GOLF
BECKER, Minn. – The Minnesota Morris men’s golf team placed ninth at the 2019 UMAC Championships, which took place at the Pebble Creek Golf Club.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Cougars carded a score of 384 (+96) Saturday to finish with an overall score of 1147 (+283).
Trent Jerome finished 30th (268/+52) as he carded an 88 (+16) Saturday.
Nick Peterson placed 36th (279/+63) as he tallied a 91 (+19) Saturday.
Joe Wehr took 42nd (300/+84) as he posted a 101 (+29) Saturday.
Roen Aronson placed 43rd (306/+90) as he recorded a 104 (+32) Saturday.
Kyle Hastings finished 45th (309/+93) as he tallied a 104 (+32) Saturday.
