Section 6A-South Championship

BARRETT – Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley’s volleyball season came to an end on Tuesday with a sweep at the hands of the Henning Hornets 25-18, 25-12, 25-14.

With the Wolverines leading 4-1 in the first set, the Hornets Kylee Mesker had a service run of nine straight points and Henning took off from there, never allowing the Wolverines back into the set.

After a dominant second set by the Hornets, the Wolverines jumped out to a 5-1 lead in set three. But after a sideout, Mesker again stepped to the line and served the Hornets to a 15-point run and it was all but over.

Mataiah Turner had 12 digs with four kills for the Wolverines, Reanna Ward had five digs, five kills, and two blocks. Lora Botker tallied six kills while Jessica Moberg added 10 assists for CGB who’s season ends with a record of 24-5.

Sydney Eckhoff tallied 23 assists for the Hornets, Serena Greenwood led with 10 kills, Megan Rinicker added eight. Henning is 23-7 and will face Wadena/Deer Creek for the section title in Fergus Falls on Saturday at 7:00 pm.
