SWIMMING & DIVING
Morris – The Swimming and Diving team drop their home meet to the Northern State Wolves 166-64.

The Wolves won 10 of 13 events on the evening.

In the 400 Medley relay, the team of Ahnika Vininski, Caitlin Papke, Carolyn Curtis and Olivia Salzwedel would take 3rd place with a time of 4:29.66. Montana Lawrence would finish in 11:59.29 in the 1000 Free for 3rd place, and 2:26.07 for a 4th place finish in the 200 back.

In the 200 free Liz Melssen would finish 4th in a time of 2:11.57, and she would also take 4th in the 200 breast with a time of 2:55.82. Olivia Salzwedel would take a 2nd place finish in the 50 free, just .3 seconds back from the leader with a time of 26.06.

Caitlin Papke would take a 2nd place finish in the 200 IM with a time of 2:24.76, and 3rd place in the 100 free in 57.57.

Freshman Olivia Lacher would get wins in both the 1-Meter and 3-Meter diving events with scores of 210.00 and 209.70 respectively.

Carolyn Curtis took 4th place in the 100 fly with a time of 1:07.83. In the 500 free Jalissa Johnson would finish in 4th place going 6:17.67.

In the final event of the meet the team of Olivia Salzwedel, Carolyn Curtis, Paulina Bekkum and Liz Melssen would team up to take 3rd place in the 400 free relay with a final time of 3:59.40.

Olivia Lacher’s 1-Meter score moves her into 6th place on the Cougars top 20 list, and her score on 3-Meter put her in 5th place.


MEN’S BASKETBALL
Moorhead – The Cougar Men’s basketball team opened their season on the road against Concordia college with a 86-82 win.

With 9 lead changes in the first half the Cougars would take a 35-34 lead into halftime.
James Pendleton would lead the Cougars with 7 points and 2 rebounds in the first half right behind him with 6 points each would be Kenneth Riley and Nick Peterson.
The Cougars would shoot 87% from the free throw line to score 20 points in the second half in which the Cougars out scored the Cobbers 51-48.

Jaret Johnson would take advantage of his first collegiate game by leading the Cougars in second half scoring with 11 points. The lead would change 8 more times in the second half for a total of 17 lead changes throughout the game.

ames Pendleton would lead the Cougars in scoring with 16 points. Kenneth Riley, Nick Peterson and Ian Carlin would all pull down 6 rebounds.


WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
Moorhead, Minn. – The Cougar Women’s Basketball team dropped their season opener on the road at Concordia College.

The Cougars would jump out to a quick 4-0 lead and maintain the lead for the first 8:21.
The Cobbers had a 18-16 lead going into the second quarter.
Abby Van Kempen would tie the game with the first points of the second quarter, but the Cobbers would score 30 in the second to take a 48-34 score into halftime.

Lexus Eagle Chasing would get a three point play at the end of the third quarter to get the Cougars within 4 points. Starting the 4th quarter layups by Mia Wassink and Lexus Eagle Chasing would tie the game at 61.

The Cobbers would outscore the Cougars 17-6 in the final 10 minutes to defeat the Cougars 78-63.

The Cougars shot 76.5% from the free throw line. The Cougars scored 20 points off turnovers.
