At last night’s meeting of the Morris City Council, it was revealed that a global expert on issues of energy and mobility will be visiting Morris next week. During their recent visit to Germany, the Morris contingent heard from Gerard Reid, a founding partner of Alexa Capital. The Irish-born Reid works in London and lives in Berlin. Morris City Manager Blaine Hill told the Council that Reid was recently named a fellow of the University of Minnesota.
“You’ve got to understand this guy’s one of the world’s experts on energy and transportation,” said Hill. “He’s worked with companies all around the world and he’s going to come to Morris, Minnesota and meet with us and talk to us about stuff. He’s very interested in Climate Smart Municipalities. He’s very interested in discussing what he knows about the future of energy and transportation and what he advises major companies around the world.”
Reid will be speaking right before the Parade of Lights, 4:30 p.m. Thursday, November 21 at Old #1 Southside.
Also at the Council meeting, it was determined that the next meeting of the Morris Model will be held right after the regular City Council meeting on Tuesday, November 26. This will give the Council a chance to meet some of the new students and members on the Model team, and get an update of recent activities.
