With winter weather conditions upon us, Morris City Manager Blaine Hill offered some safety reminders on the KMRS Community Connection program for area drivers.
“You’ve got to drive to the conditions that are out there,” said Hill. “So, we have a little light dusting of snow out there right now and sometimes what happens is it gets packed down a little bit and it gets slippery around stop signs and stuff. The last thing we want to do is send out sanding/salting trucks every single time there’s a little light dusting of snow. It helps if people just slow down a little bit, take your time.”
Hill said laying down salt in particular can be challenging for any city who has to balance public safety concerns with the effects of the salt running into the sewer drains and then down to the rivers.
