Tax levy and 2020 budget presentations were made last night at the Morris City Council meeting at the Morris Senior Center. City Manager Blaine Hill presented the figures to the Council and said the levy will increase 3 percent, a rate that has been amazingly steady going on 18 years.
“People should be pretty happy that their levy today is actually pretty flat compared to their levy back in 2001,” said Hill. “That’s a long time.”
The City’s overall budget will decrease by 1 percent. Hill said Local Government Aid has leveled off substantially in the past five years. The Council approved both the final levy and budget figures last night.
