As the State progresses toward the concept of a One Call/One Click program that would access all transportation options in a region with a single call or visit to a website, Heather Molesworth of West Central Minnesota Communities Action told the Stevens County Board of Commissioners at their regular meeting this week of some of the challenges. Board Chair Jeanne Ennen told the KMRS Community Connection that she is unsure how the logistics of such a system would work in a rural area.
“I think the concept is a great concept,” said Ennen. “I just don’t know how it’s going to come to bear, because transportation looks different in the rural area than it does in a city. It’ll be interesting to follow along and see how they can work out the bugs.”
Getting the transportation to far-off rural spots will be the challenge, some of the Commissioners noted. Molesworth told the board a 20 percent funding match from their five counties is likely for the program, but that has yet to be determined.
