Stevens County Board of Commissioners at their regular meeting last week approved $3,500 for an Alexandria company to come up with a new logo design for Stevens County. The County’s IT Director, Vicky Townsend, told the board that there have been difficulties with the current logo on the website. And Auditor/Treasurer Stephanie Buss added another challenge.

“We need a logo that’s a little more easier to put on some clothing and some other items. And this one is pretty difficult to do that,” said Buss.

Commissioner Donny Wohlers cast the sole dissenting vote, saying he felt $3,500 was a lot of money for a logo design. He also was not sure if any Stevens County companies had been contacted to do the work. The other commissioners went with the assumption that County Coordinator Rebecca Young looked into that question before going on maternity leave and would have provided that information if there had been any local companies designing corporate logos.
