BOYS BASKETBALL

Central MN Christian 54, Hancock 47
HANCOCK – Central MN Christian closed the game on a 10-3 run to earn a 54-47 victory over Hancock on Saturday.
The Owls never led in the game but were able to tie it at 44 late before fading.
Matt Thompson had a double/double with 18 points and 13 rebounds, Daniel Milander scored 11 and Colten Crowell chipped in nine for the Owls who fall to 3-3.
Peter Martin led the Blue Jays with 14 points, Austin TeBrake had 12 with 13 rebounds, Case Mulder added 13 as they improve to 5-3.

Tri-State 74, Wheaton/Herman-Norcross 57
CAMPBELL – Clint Determan scored 11 points with 14 rebounds but Wheaton/Herman-Norcross came up short in a 75-57 loss to Tri-State on Saturday. Matt Thielen added 11 points for the Warriors who fall to 5-3.

West Central Area 59, Long Prairie/Grey Eagle 37
BARRETT –┬áThe West Central Area Knights moved to 8-1 on the season with a 59-37 win over the Long Prairie-Grey Eagle Thunder on Saturday night.
The Knights hit eleven 3-pointers for the second game in a row going 11-28 from 3-point land and had a dominating rebound performance winning that battle by a 38-24 margin.
Jack Van Kempen had 16 points, 10 rebounds, three assists and three steals. Brady Reeve 12 points and Jacob Bright added 11.


GIRLS BASKETBALL

Central MN Christian 57, Hancock 40
HANCOCK – Central MN Christian grabbed the lead midway through the first half and continued to pull away until the final buzzer in a 57-40 victory over Hancock.
The Owls were held to 33 percent shooting in suffering their second straight loss, falling to 9-2 on the season.
Carlee Hanson led with 13 points, Lexi Staples had 10, Morgan Kisgen chipped in nine.
Elli Stoel scored a game-high 21 with seven rebounds, Colette Duininck had 16 points, Kaitly Bulthuis added 14 as the Jays improve to 8-1.

West Central Area 62, Long Prairie/Grey Eagle 33
BARRETT – West Central Area opened the game on a 10-0 run and never trailed in a 62-33 victory on Saturday over Long Prairie/Grey Eagle.
The Knights were led by Claire Stark with 19 points, five rebounds and a steal. Lexi Bright
had 17 points, eight rebounds, and five steals. Brynn Fernholz chipped in eight points with five boards, and five steals.


BOYS HOCKEY

Morris/Benson Area 4, Worthington 2
WORTHINGTON – Tim Blume scored a pair of power-play goals in the first period and Morris/Benson Area won their 11th consecutive game with a 4-2 defeat of Worthington.
Blume assisted on Zach Bruns goal and Kaleb Breuer added a short-handed goal for the Storm who are 11-1 on the season. Chase Engebretson made 27 saves in net.


GIRLS HOCKEY

Worthington 5, Morris/Benson Area 1
WORTHINGTON – Worthington pulled away with three goals in the third period for a 5-1 victory over Morris/Benson Area.
Kortney Sanasack scored for the Storm on a feed from Taryn Picht and Ryanne Bisgard at 8:12 of the first to tie the game at one. Leah Thompson had 36 saves for the Storm who fall to 0-13-1.


GYMNASTICS

Park Rapids Invite
PARK RAPIDS – Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta took fourth place at the Park Rapids Invite on Saturday with a score of 115.9.
Faith Butterfass took third on vault, Callie Snell was eighth. Snell took 10th in all-around, two spots back of teammate Taylor Kill. Kill finished third in floor, Madalyn Sigel was fifth on beam while Tasha Koehl took eighth.
Alexandria took first with a 132, Fergus falls and Park Rapids were 2-3. Long Prairie/Grey Eagle took fifth.
