RICHMOND – Morris/Benson Area Storm saw their season come to an end with an 11-0 loss in the section 6A Play-In game at the hands of River Lakes.
Kianna Roeske had a first period hat trick to anchor the Stars dominant 6-0 first period. Roeske added an assist in the second as the Stars tacked on four more goals for a 10-0 lead after two.
McKynzie Cremers had two goals and an assist, three Stars goalies combined for seven saves in net. The Stars are 15-10-4 and face no. 2 Fergus Falls in the semifinals Tuesday.
Leah Thompson had 31 saves for the Storm who end the season with an 0-21-1 mark.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Melrose 72, Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta 49
MORRIS – Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta couldn’t keep pace with Melrose in a 72-49 loss to the Dutchmen.
The Tigers shot 41 percent for the game but were just 3-12 from three-point range. Jackson Loge scored 19 points with eight rebounds, Jaden Maanum added 12 points on 5-9 shooting as the Tigers fall to 10-8. Melrose is 15-5.

Hancock 53, Renville County West 49
HANCOCK – Matt Thompson powered Hancock past Renville County West with a 22 point, 14 rebound performance in the Owls 53-49 victory over the Jaguars.
Preston Rohloff had 11 points with four assists, Colten Crowell added seven points for the Owls who shot 53 percent and improve to 13-6. Riley Ashburn had 23 points for the Jaguars who fall to 13-8.

Lac qui Parle Valley 73, Wheaton/Herman-Norcross 65
MADISON – Matt Thielen scored 41 points but it wasn’t enough as Wheaton/Herman-Norcross lost to Lac qui Parle Valley 73-65.
Thielen was 15-27 shooting, including 11-19 from three-point range but the Warriors couldn’t overcome their 20 turnovers, and the Eagles dominance in the post. The Eagles outscored the Warriors 38-8 in the paint, holding a 43-27 rebounding advantage.
Clint Determan had seven points with eight rebounds for the Warriors who fell to 9-9. The Eagles are 14-4.

EVANSVILLE – Hancock’s balanced scoring attack proved too much for Brandon-Evansville in a 68-40 victory from Evansville.
Rylee Hanson led the Owls with 21 points, Tori Pahl had 13 with eight rebounds, Carlee Hanson score nine points while Lexi Staples and Jordan Hausmann each added seven.
Mikenna Pattrin had 11 points for the Chargers who shot 30 percent and were just 1-10 from three-point range. Maddie Otto added eight as they fall to 12-9. The Owls are 14-6.
