MORRIS – Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta used a combination of tough defense and hot shooting to earn a 71-57 victory over Melrose on Friday at the Tiger Center.
Meredith Carrington led the charge with 21 points, six rebounds and seven steals for the Tigers who shot 48 percent and forced 20 Dutchmen turnovers.
Emma Bowman had 15 points, Malory Anderson scored 12 with seven boards and four steals, Kenna Kehoe added 10 points. The Tigers have won five straight and are 13-8 on the season. Makiya Luetmer scored a game-high 28 for Melrose who fell to 14-7.

BARRETT – Jack Van Kempen and Gage Staples led West Central Area past Wheaton/Herman-Norcross 75-51 for the Knights seventh straight win.
Van Kempen posted a double/double with 16 points with 11 rebounds, Gage Staples had 22 points with nine boards, Ryder Staples added 11.
The Knights shot 53 percent and outrebounded the Warriors 39-21 and improved to 17-2 on the season. Matt Thielen had 24 points for the Warriors, Logan Birchem had seven as they fall to 9-10.
Brandon-Evansville 48, Hillcrest Lutheran 41
FERGUS FALLS – Brandon-Evansville edged Hillcrest 48-41 behind a tough defensive effort on Friday in Fergus Falls.
Tanner Bitzan scored 14 points for the Chargers, Keagan Schiele added 10 and Marshall Riedel scored seven as they improved to 11-6. Micah Foss had 13 for the Comets who fall to 6-12.

West Central Conference Meet
MAHACA Tigers took third place at the West Central Conference gymnastics meet on Friday in Melrose.
Melrose is the conference champion with a score of 145, Benson/KMS took second with 137, the Tigers scored a 117 and Long Prairie/Grey Eagle/Browerville was fourth with a 92.
Callie Snell took 10th place on Beam, ninth on Floor and sixth in the All-Around.
Taylor Kill earned 10th place on Floor and seventh in the All-Around. Snell and Faith Butterfass each stuck their beam routines.
Snell and Kill each earned All-Conference honors, while Butterfass was named Honorable Mention.
