At last week’s meeting of the Stevens County Board of Commissioners, approval was given for a contract with Donlar to begin the process of planning the details for a new building for the Highway Department. Board Chair Bob Kopitzke told the KMRS Community Connection that prior approval was already given to the company for being the project’s construction manager, but now comes the next step in the process.
“They’ll help us select an architect and get a plan, get some other things off the ground,” said Kopitzke. “And then we’ll have another contract with them after we can establish some more permanent cost to the building.”
Ideally, said Kopitzke, they will be able to break ground in September. But he cautioned there are many steps along the way, and it could easily get backed into next year.
