Stevens County Commissioners recently met with area legislators at the State Capitol in St. Paul to discuss a number of issues of concern to the County. Chair of the Board of County Commissioners Bob Kopitzke told the KMRS Community Connection that one issue raised involves fiscal mismanagement by the Department of Human Services.
“DHS says we have to pay back some Human Services money. We’ve decided to say No to that, it’s their mistake,” said Kopitzke. “So we’re trying to get some legislative help there. Governor Walz says we shouldn’t pay it back.”
Kopitzke said that Governor Tim Walz spoke to the County Commissioners group and was impressed that the governor wants to work with the other political side to reach agreements.
