With the Annual Township Officers Association Meeting set for 9:30 a.m. Thursday, March 12 at DeToy’s Restaurant in Morris, Stevens County Commissioner Bob Kopitzke told the KMRS Community Connection that the County is thankful there are officers dedicated to serving the townships.
“Township government is very important to us in the County,” said Kopitzke. “They’re having trouble having people on their boards. People are busy, the older ones are retiring. It’s always a good deal to go to the Township board and see what their needs are. They get kind of left out in things like road and bridges.”
Some counties in the state, Kopitzke noted, don’t have townships and all decisions in those areas need to be handled by the County.
