Following a perfect 12-0 mark in conference play, the West Central Area Knights took home the hardware when the Pheasant Conference awards were announced Thursday.
Knights senior forward Jack Van Kempen earned Pheasant Conference Most Valuable Player after averaging 14 points, 10 rebounds, two assists, and two blocks per game this past season. Knights coach Kraig Hunter received the Coach of the Year award.
Joining Van Kempen with All-Conference honors were teammates Gage Staples, Grant Beuckens, and Jacob Bright. Tate Christenson was an honorable mention.
Hancock and Brandon-Evansville each had three named All-Conference. For the Owls Daniel Milander, Matt Thompson, and Preston Rohloff, while the Chargers Marshall Riedel, Tanner Bitzan and Keagan Schiele were All-Conference. Titus Fuller was an honorable mention.
Matt Thielen of Wheaton/Herman-Norcross was named All-Conference and ends his playing career as the Warriors all-time leader with 1,701 points. Thielen led the conference averaging 23.1 points per game, while teammate Dylan Bainbridge led the conference with five assists per game. Bainbridge and Clint Determan were honorable mentions.
For Hillcrest, Micah Foss and Thomas Zwiers were All-Conference, Ev Gould was honorable mention. Ortonville’s Pete Treinen was All-Conference, Zach Kuchenmeister was an honorable mention.
