Morris Schools Superintendent Troy Ferguson announced over the weekend that Morris Area Schools will be closed starting today through Friday, March 27, and that those two weeks will not be E-learning days. The decision comes after the Governor’s directive that all schools in the state close no later than Wednesday so teachers can prepare for extended distance learning in the coming weeks. Ferguson said in a message to parents that all staff in the district will be using the next two weeks to plan how to accomplish the Governor’s directive.
The school buildings will be open today from 9:15 a.m. to noon, and also from 4 to 6 p.m., so students can retrieve personal items.
Meanwhile, Hancock schools announced that they would be in session today and tomorrow. Their school closure will begin Wednesday and run through the 27th.
