Eugene Edward Fuhrman, age 81 of Graceville, Minnesota, passed away Friday, March 13, 2020, at the home (farm) his parents built in rural Graceville, MN. This is where he lived and farmed his entire life.
Memorial services for Eugene Fuhrman will be Tuesday, July 21, at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Johnson, MN.
Burial will be in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery.
Lunch will be served at the Graceville Community Center following the burial.
Eugene was the fourth son of William and Hilda (Zimmerman) Fuhrman born on May 17, 1938, in Graceville. He was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Johnson, MN. Eugene attended Trinity Lutheran School, rural Johnson, MN, and graduated from the Agricultural School in Morris, Minnesota, in 1956.
On October 2, 1956, Eugene married Jane Vogt at Trinity Lutheran Church, Johnson, where they were active members. Gentleman farmer Eugene worked with his dad and brothers and he and his wife raised three daughters, Debra, Christa and Lori.
After many years of farming on the homestead, he retired to an apartment in Graceville. His hobbies included hunting with family and lifelong friends, flying over the plains of Western Minnesota and traveling with Jane to warmer places in the winter. They had many adventures together. Jane passed away March 31, 2015. Eugene also played in the Jimmy Douglas Band for many years. Although Gene was quiet and a stay at home kind of person, he had many friends and was respected and loved in his hometown area. He took pride in his family keeping the tradition of the family farm.
Survivors include daughters: Debra (Rich) Janke of Neshkoro, WI, Christa (Cowboy) Andersen of Brainerd, MN, and Lori (Chris) Foley of Manteca, CA; eight grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren: Sarah (David) Boettcher of Red Deer, Alberta Canada- children Isaac, Greta, Samuel and Elijah; Phil (Stephanie) Janke of Fond du lac, WI- children Caleb, Naomi and Joshua; Rebecca (Stephen) Kruschel of Two Rivers, WI- children Adeline, Timothy, Benjamin, Gabriel, and Phineas; Leah (Jordan) Crave of Waterloo, WI- children Huxton, Jedediah, Maverick and Lisette; Jamie Rosenow of Rochester, NY, David (Shailee) Rosenow of Chattanooga,TN; Dane Andersen of Brainerd and Cami Andersen of St. Paul. These are all blessings bestowed to Jane and Eugene. Other family survivors are Linda and Orrin Cole and sisters-in-law: Bettie and Georgeann; also many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Preceded in death are his wife: Jane of 59 years; brothers: Wilbur, Donald, and Martin Fuhrman; his parents: Hilda and William Fuhrman.
