While the Tri-County COVID Medical Center (TCMC) prepared the former Appleton correctional facility to open today to handle a high volume of COVID-19 patients needing hospitalization in Chippewa, Lac qui Parle and Swift counties, the State Health Care Coordination Center has notified them they need to postpone the opening. The Center said there needs to be a determination that the facility has been selected by the Minnesota Department of Health as the Minnesota Southwest region’s Alternative Care Site.

The five independent health care organizations collaborating on this project will continue to provide care for their patients through the pandemic. The group consists of Appleton Area Health, CCM Health of Montevideo, Johnson Memorial Health Services of Dawson, Madison Healthcare Services, and Swift County Benson Health Services.
