An increase in mental health issues is accompanying the increasing spread of the coronavirus. Stevens Community Medical Center’s Dr. Jason Huikko told the KMRS Community Connection that the facility is prepared to deal with patients who are feeling anxious or depressed.
“Just in the general public, I know there’s heightened anxiety. And any patient that struggles with that under normal circumstances certainly may be struggling more,” said Huikko. “We will accommodate seeing those patients in an urgent fashion as much as possible. Our behavioral health department is working on doing remote visits either through telephone or virtual visits.”
Huikko also said the clinic is looking at options of using video or telephone visits to accommodate appropriate types of appointments.
