There are many challenges to opening a new business, but Tera and Tyler Erdman started operating Tera’s S’paw and Pet Resort in Hancock yesterday in the midst of a pandemic that prohibits them from doing one of their key services. The Erdmans recently bought TLC Pet Haven from Connie and Allan Charles, where Tera had once worked. She told KMRS that the business will groom cats and dogs, and will also be available for boarding of pets.
“A lot of people want their dogs in for grooming, but unfortunately I cannot groom dogs as of for now until April 10th. But I’m thinking it might be til May is what they’re making it sound like,” said Erdman. “But as far as boarding, it’s been pretty quiet due to everyone having to stay at home.”
Tera, a 2012 graduate of Morris Area High School who has been a pet groomer for three years, said they plan to build a fence in the back yard of the business in hopes of establishing a full Doggie Day Care. Husband Tyler helps his father Robert with farming, but Tera said he will help out when things get busy at the pet resort. During the pandemic down time, Tera said she will continue with computer training and getting the business ready. She is hoping more travel will be allowed sometime in May.
