While some have been unsure about whether Governor Tim Walz called for a Stay-at-Home order too early, Dr. Jason Huikko of Stevens Community Medical Center in Morris told the KMRS Community Connection that he agreed with the decision.
“I think based on what we’re seeing in other areas, particularly around the world, different countries that have enacted different things, the best way to cut off the spread of this virus is to have people interact with each other as little as possible,” said Huikko. “And I also feel that to act quicker and allow our health system to ramp up for the eventual surge of this is a wise thing. So, I am very supportive of the action that he took.”
Huikko said the governor’s directive will give health systems time to prepare for the eventual peak of the disease, whether that is several weeks away or months out.
