With government directives discouraging groups of 10 or more from gathering, funeral homes are having to adjust as best they can. Shane Decker of Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris and Starbuck Funeral Home in Starbuck assured listeners of the KMRS Community Connection that despite public ceremonies getting delayed and public visitations are not allowed at this time, they are not storing any deceased bodies at the facility and funeral services are ongoing – just different in these pandemic times.
“So at this time we are continuing to have private services of 10 people or less,” said Decker. “And we’re implementing some technology to allow others in the community, if the family allows, to be a part of those services through technology. And we also have the ability to do live streaming and delayed streaming of webcasts of our funerals.”
Decker said some families are choosing to keep services private and not stream it. He did say that when restrictions let up, families will be able to have some type of public ceremony at no additional charge.
