The Morris City Council met last night for a required board of review for property valuations and heard County Assessor Craig Swanson give some statistics for the last year recorded. Only a couple of residents had requested a re-evaluation of their property, but viewing procedures had to be changed due to new coronavirus guidelines. The assessor did not go inside any houses for inspections.
Swanson reported there were 84 total sales in the last reporting period, from October 2018 through September 2019, and four commercial sales, as well as four residential vacant lot sales. There were four commercial new constructions, and 15 new constructions on residential properties. Swanson said we were “sitting in an OK market right now,” with sales up about 5 percent in Morris.
