Small business consultant Shannon Berns of Du Nord Consulting, an Alexandria-based firm, told the KMRS Community Connection that there are a number of financial programs available to help small businesses weather the impact of the COVID-19 economic slowdown. The Small Business Administration offers an EIDL Disaster Loan and a Payroll Protection Plan is offered through private lenders, which are 100 percent forgiveable and pay for eight weeks of payroll for your workers.
“What I’m advising my clients is: apply, apply, apply,” said Berns. “Only because, as someone who’s averse to taking on debt in their business, you really want to make sure that it’s the thing that makes sense for you. However, you won’t have to repay for 12 months, so it really allows people to get back on their feet, allows people to get the revenue streams back up and running before they even have to make a payment.”
Berns said she is offering to help any small business owner navigate through the various programs and can be reached at 651-829-0641.
