For those select few allowed into the Stevens County Courthouse during these pandemic times, you will notice a nearly empty building. Nearly 90 percent of county employees are working at home. County Coordinator Rebecca Young told the KMRS Community Connection that outside of law enforcement and emergency management personnel, there are only a handful of employees in the building.
“So right now just your critical sector are allowed in the building,” said Young. “I give a lot of credit to the department heads and our IT staff. They did really great work about a week and a half ago. They got folks deployed to a telework situation. And that was a lot of work and a lot work on the back end on the IT, the servers, and things like that. So right now, on any given day, we have less than 10 in the building.”
Young said she herself is splitting her time between home and the courthouse.
