An Executive Summary by the auditing firm Eide Bailey found the City of Morris in stable financial condition and was presented to the Morris City Council at their meeting on Tuesday. The Council passed a resolution accepting and approving the 2019 annual financial statements for the City of Morris. City Manager Blaine Hill told the KMRS Community Connection that the audit provides a chance for someone from the outside to look at the City’s books and make sure they accurately reflect what’s happening and to ensure the City is meeting all financial requirements.
“On the city side, we got a clean audit from Eide-Bailly and what that means is it’s an unmodified opinion,” Hill explained. “So they looked at it and said, Yes, this looks like it’s right, and so we don’t have to comment on anything. And the same thing happened on the federal side. So they were happy with what they saw and it was a good audit for us.”
The audit found that the City has total cash and investments of $11 million, which is about the same as the previous year.
