Morris Area High School senior Sara Hoffman told the KMRS Community Connection that the governor’s decision late last week to continue distance learning through the end of this academic year is understandable but disappointing.
“It’s devastating because a lot of people in the Class of 2020 really wanted to just end the year by attending the last days of school, so it’s sad that we can’t do that,” said Hoffman. “But I agree with the governor because it’s smart to keep people from interacting with one another because in order for COVID to be resolved people still need to social distance. So I think that’s more important than being able to be with our whole class at school.”
Hoffman is encouraged by some of the alternative commencement ideas being discussed and was hopeful that something will happen for a public graduation ceremony.
