Like many businesses on Main Street in Morris, the Someplace Safe Thrift Store is losing a lot of money by being temporarily closed. But Someplace Safe Crime Victim Advocate Bridgett Karels told the KMRS Community Connection that it’s not just about the money.

“The Thrift Store, sure, it’s a stream of revenue, but that’s not really what it’s about for us,” said Karels. “It’s about being an institution for the community. We have so many people that absolutely love coming in and seeing the staff and the volunteers. It’s just a great place for people to come together and support each other and the community.”

Karels said Someplace Safe will be participating in Denim Day on Wednesday, April 29 in support of victims of sexual violence, and encouraged the public to wear denim on that day.
