The number of deaths from COVID-19 jumped 27 since yesterday for a statewide total of 455, according to data released this morning by the Department of Health. Of those, 368 have come from residents of long-term care or assisted living facilities. There are 7,851 total confirmed positive cases in the state. As of today, 434 people are hospitalized with the virus, with 182 in intensive care.
On the County level, Stearns County has become a national hot spot for the coronavirus, with 815 confirmed cases. Kandiyohi has also seen a significant increase and is now up to 200 cases. Otter Tail has 19 and Douglas has 10. Pope County registered its first case, following on this weekend’s report of Grant County’s first case. Stevens remains one of five counties in the state with no confirmed cases.
