At her weekly update to the Stevens County Board of Commissioners yesterday, Stevens County Emergency Management Director Dona Greiner said she has made yet another request for Personal Protective Equipment for local law enforcement and first responders. In the last two weeks, she said she has made two requests. No equipment has been received yet, but Greiner hoped the county would see something soon.
Meanwhile, she said residents can prepare for a gradual reopening of the economy.
“We do encourage our business owners to start planning for re-opening,” said Greiner. “There are many resources on the Minnesota Department of Health website which they can use for making plans and going through the steps that they need to cover.”
The Sheriff’s Office has been distributing hand sanitizer to businesses that need it. Greiner also announced that the county will receive nearly $5,000 if an emergency grant gets submitted, which she said she plans to do.
