Sandra Olson-Loy, vice chancellor for student affairs at the University of Minnesota Morris, has been named a 2020 Pillar of the Profession by the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA) Foundation. The Pillar of the Profession Award is one of the organization’s highest honors and honors individuals who have created a lasting impact on their institutions, leaving a legacy of extraordinary service, and who have demonstrated a sustained lifetime professional distinction in student affairs and higher education. Olson-Loy has been senior student affairs officer at U of M Morris for two decades.
Morris Chancellor Michelle Behr called Olson-Loy “a pillar of the University of Minnesota Morris community” and noted her leadership in a University of Minnesota systemwide mental health resource network and campus recognition as a federally recognized Native American Serving Non-Tribal Institution as just two examples of her lasting work. Chancellor Emerita Jacaqueline Johnson cited Olson-Loy’s leadership of planning teams for a new LEED Gold “green” residence hall – the Green Prairie Community – and Morris Healthy Eating with its local food partnerships.
