The reconstruction project on Highways 28, 29 and 114 in Starbuck started this week. The focus right now is at/near the intersection of Highway 29 south and First Street. Emma Olson with the Department of Transportation’s Detroit Lakes office told KMRS that Stage 1 of the project will last through June.
“Last year, the City had put in new utilities on 1st Street. So, they’re going to connect those lines,” Olson explained. “That’s going to be that first part of the project. So you might see some lane closures, some short term road closures while they’re doing that work. And then they’ll resurface West 1st Street because that’s going to be part of the first stage detour for the overall project.”
Watch for flaggers and please slow down in the work zone. Trucks are discouraged from using the Wollan/First Street detour and should follow the truck detour route. Pavement removals on Highway 29 south from First Street to Fourth Street have already been completed, paving the way for Stage 1 to begin.
