A number of county fairs typically held in June throughout Minnesota have started to cancel their events. Steve Storck is Vice Chair of the Stevens County Fair board and told KMRS that they have a bit of time before they have to make the call on whether they can hold the August event or not.

“For our fair here in Stevens County, we aren’t until the 11th – 16th of August,” said Storck. “But if things continue, we feel that we get around that June 15th date we’re going to have to make that decision of what we’re going to do or what we’re going to cut, or how it’s going to impact our County Fair.”

Storck also serves as Chair of the Minnesota Federation of County Fairs and said all county fairs have to consider the health and safety of its Fair staff, vendors, competitors and all fairgoers. Storck noted that both Big Stone and Grant counties have July fairs, and will need to decide sooner rather than later if those events go on.
