The U.S. Census Bureau has been keeping track of each state’s self-response rates to the 2020 Census. Minnesota is one of the top five in the nation with a 67.8 percent self-response rate. The other top four states are all in the Midwest: Iowa, Wisconsin, Michigan and Nebraska.

Statewide, Stevens County is doing better than most of its neighbors with a 66.6 percent self-response rate. Other county rates include:

Grant               53.5%

Big Stone         53.1%

Pope                53.8%

Traverse           48.0%

Swift                63.4%

Douglas           57.1%

The national average is 57.3 percent.
