As the underground work continues in Starbuck, portions of Highway 29 south are closed. Crews shifted to First Street on Thursday and traffic is being rerouted short-term to Wollan Street and Second Street. At the same time, expect to encounter lane shifts on Highway 29 south between Second Street and the bridge while crews work at the First Street intersection. The goal is to switch the detour back to Wollan and First Street by the weekend.
Next week, the detour may be adjusted again to Second Street while crews continue underground work at the intersection of First Street and Highway 29, and pave First Street. Drivers should be alert for those changes, which will be marked. Truck traffic is being asked to use the truck detour route, unless their destination is Starbuck. Alternative pedestrian routes are also set up along Highway 29. Follow directional signs to safely cross the work zone.
