At their regular meeting on Tuesday evening, the Morris City Council approved a resolution for an electric utility line easement with Agralite Electric Cooperative at the Morris Municipal Airport. City Manager Blaine Hill explained on the KMRS Community Connection that the vote was the next administrative measure to move the airport project forward.
“The FAA identified some land issues that needed to be taken care of, and one of them was a blanket easement that the Agralite had on the airport land to be able to come in and put in utility lines and maintain them and stuff,” said Hill. “And what we did is we reduced that blanket easement down to a specific easement for the line that they have that comes in. And it actually extends down to the southwest of the airport to service a farm home that’s there.”
The move will satisfy the FAA, Hill said.
Also at the Council meeting, Police Chief Reggie Welle announced that the police department has welcomed two new officers recently: Michael Mordini and Tyler Christianson. Interviews have also been conducted with a third candidate.
