Former President of the Minnesota Senate Michelle Fischbach officially filed for office May 19 for the 7th Congressional District House seat.

Michelle Fischbach, Republican-endorsed candidate for Minnesota’s 7th District and former Lt. Governor of Minnesota, officially filed for office with the Minnesota Secretary of State on Tuesday.

“Even with the current situation and social distancing, we are continuing our full-time, grass roots campaign across all 38 counties of western Minnesota,” Fischbach said in a statement. “I look forward to meeting and listening to people at their homes or on the phones, on main street or online.”

Republicans consider Minnesota’s 7th District to be one of their top pick-up opportunities in the country for a U.S. House seat, as President Trump carried the district by over 30 points in 2016 and it currently has a voter index of Republican +12.
