The Morris School Board approved the 2019-2020 revised budget at their meeting on Monday evening. School District Finance Director Jeannie Maanum told the board that the district has been told in various meetings and webinars that because of the COVID situation, they should keep their budgets going they way they were projected to be, even though Maanum reported some substantial deficit numbers.
“Right now, we’ve got a deficit of $413,000 in the General Fund. But there’s some couple of big projects that will make up that deficit of the U of M of the turf and the wall,” said Maanum. “And then also we’re going to try to get some tech-painting done in the building. So, just some couple big projects that will make up that deficit. We have budgeted for that and also we have it in our fund balance.”
Maanum said if there were big differences at the end of the year compared to the projections, many of those items will be justified through the audit process.
