The Morris Little League and Morris Baseball Association are closely following the Executive Orders put in place by Governor Walz’s Office. To create a safe environment for staff and participants, we continue to follow the guidance of the Minnesota Department of Health.

In the last month or so, a Minnesota coalition of statewide youth baseball and softball organizations has been working with the Governor’s Office to create a Safe Play: Back to the Diamond program. When this program is shared, we plan to follow the safety guidelines they set forth.

An online chart of Minnesota’s “Stay Safe” plan can be found at mn.gov/covid19. In that chart, you can find a setting for “Organized Youth Sports”. https://mn.gov/covid19/for-minnesotans/stay-safe-mn/stay-safeplan.jsp

In preparation of Stay Safe MN Phase II, MLL and MBA are opening up their registration portal and accepting registrations for the 2020 Morris Little League program. At this time, Phase II involves practices ONLY.

League games will not take place until Phase III of this “Stay Safe” plan happens. They will be collecting registrations through Monday, June 1 and drafting teams on Tuesday, June 2. (If sending registrations through the mail, registrations must be received in hand by Monday June 1st). After that date we cannot guarantee your child will be placed on a team. Little League spots will be reserved to the first 144 registrants.

At this time, we anticipate the Morris Little League program to be a Mid-June, July and first week of August type of program (depending on number of teams). However, we will make adjustments as necessary to keep athletes, coaches, and all people involved as safe as possible through MDH and Safe Play: Back to the Diamond Guidelines.

Boys that have just completed grades 3rd – 6th this spring are eligible to play. The registration fee is $60.

Please include your registration fee, payable to Morris Little League, with the completed registration form or use our online registration portal www.morrisbaseball.net/littleleagueregistration

Players are responsible for providing their own glove and pants. Metal spikes are not allowed; rubber spikes are acceptable.

The Draft and Head Coaches Meeting will be held Tuesday, June 2, at 6:30 p.m. At this meeting, head coaches will draft new teams, and review league rules. Head coaches will be contacting players with practice information and safety protocols after that date.

Season Dates (Tentative): June 3rd – August 6th: The practice and possible game dates will be communicated to you when we receive the appropriate guidance.
