Stevens County Dispatch received a report on a driving complaint just after 5 p.m. Thursday night. The vehicle was located by both officers of the Morris Police Department and Stevens County Sheriff’s Office on East 2nd Street, which was the same vehicle that was reported stolen on Wednesday in the city of Morris. Officers and deputies attempted to conduct a traffic stop and a pursuit ensued. The pursuit traveled north on Atlantic Avenue until the vehicle collided with a civilian vehicle, coming to a complete stop near State Highways 9 and 28 by McDonald’s.

The driver surrendered to law enforcement and was taken into custody without incident, and then to Stevens Community Medical Center for evaluation. The driver of the civilian vehicle was not injured. Investigation is ongoing. Besides Morris Police and Stevens County Sheriff’s Office, agencies involved were University of Minnesota Morris Police Department, Stevens County Ambulance Service and Morris Fire Department.
